Chinese striker Tan Long has been slapped with an indefinite suspension for making critical comments about his MLS soccer club on Twitter.

"We just sent him home today because it's pretty clear we don't criticize the club or other people publicly," Vancouver Whitecaps coach Martin Rennie said. "We would never do that. We (in management) never criticize players. We don't expect players to do that."

The 24-year-old Tan was suspended after he complained on Twitter about a lack of playing time.

"What do you want? I do not understand!" Tan wrote.

Tan is the first Chinese player to suit up for an MLS team.
